What’s the Start-up Visa Program?

The Start-Up Visa Program is designed to attract individuals with business ideas that not only contribute to Canada’s economy but also create jobs for Canadians and have the potential to compete internationally.

What are the requirements?

To qualify for a start-up Visa, you must:

1. Create an innovative business with the potential to compete globally.
2. A letter of support from a Canadian venture capital fund, angel investor group, or business incubator with committed capital.
3. Speak in English or French by meeting the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 level in speaking, reading, listening, and writing.
4. Prove of financial stability that you have enough funds to support yourself and your dependents upon arrival in Canada.
5. Each applicant holds 10% or more of the voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation.
6. Applicants hold more than 50% of the total voting rights attached to all corporation shares.

Note: While your permanent residence application is being processed, you can apply for a temporary work permit to kickstart your business in Canada.
