How to apply

Invitation to Apply

Express your intention to sponsor by submitting the “Interest to Sponsor” form when it becomes available through IRCC. Upon submission, you may receive an invitation to proceed with your application

Sponsoring your parents and grandparents begins with an invitation to apply. If you receive this invitation, it signifies that you have met the initial eligibility requirements.

Not Invited to Apply

Super Visa Option

If you have not received an invitation to sponsor your parents and grandparents, there’s another way to have them visit Canada. They may be eligible to apply for a Super Visa allowing them to stay in Canada for extended periods, up to 5 years at a time.

Application Process

When invited to apply, you will need to submit two applications: the sponsorship application and the permanent residence application. Once both applications are approved, you’ll sign an undertaking agreement.

FAQs PGP program

  • Sponsorship fee: CAN$85. This is paid by the sponsor (you).
  • Principal applicant processing fee: CAN$545. This is paid by the parent or grandparent being sponsored.

Yes, you can sponsor your grandparents if you live in Quebec.

However, there are specific requirements and processes to follow:

  • Federal government approval: You must first meet the federal government’s eligibility criteria for the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program.
  • Quebec government approval: After obtaining federal approval, you must also meet the requirements set by the Quebec government. This includes signing an undertaking to financially support your parents or grandparents for a specific period.
