Claiming Asylum in Canada
Individuals who have been forced to leave their home country due to a genuine fear of persecution on account of their race, religion, social group, political opinion, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality may be eligible for refugee protection in Canada.
To claim asylum in Canada, individuals must first present themselves to Canadian immigration authorities at a port of entry or an inland office. After initial assessment, they will need to provide evidence of persecution and undergo security screenings to be considered for refugee status.
