Your Gateway to Canadian Skilled Worker Immigration

Express Entry is your online ticket to navigating the Canadian immigration landscape as a skilled worker. This sophisticated system efficiently manages immigration applications, ensuring that skilled workers can smoothly find their path to becoming permanent residents.

What is Express Entry and How Does It Work?

Express Entry is an online platform that coordinates immigration applications for skilled workers looking to make Canada their new home. Through this streamlined process, you can potentially become a permanent resident in Canada.
This system manages three distinct immigration programs, each tailored to cater to the diverse needs and backgrounds of applicants:

  1. Canadian Experience Class
    • Designed for skilled workers who possess Canadian work experience.
    • Your work experience must have been gained in the three years before you apply.
The Canadian Experience Class welcomes individuals who wish to transition from temporary to permanent resident status in Canada.

  2. Federal Skilled Worker Program
    • Targeted at skilled workers with foreign work experience.
    • Applicants must meet specific criteria for education and other factors.
This program is for individuals who have valuable work experience and are looking to become permanent residents.

  3. Federal Skilled Trades Program
    • Intended for skilled workers qualified in a specific trade.
    • Requires a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification.
Skilled trades workers can find a path to permanent residency in Canada through this program.
Eligibility and Requirements

While eligibility criteria may vary for each program, there are common factors to consider:

Skilled Work Experience:

For Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Worker Program applicants, you must have relevant work experience.

Work experience should be in specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER categories

Paid work, including wages or earned commissions, is considered, while volunteer work or unpaid internships do not count.

The work experience must be continuous and meet specific criteria, such as minimum hours per week.

Language Ability:

Proficiency in English or French is essential.

Applicants must take approved language tests to assess their writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills.

Minimum scores are required to be eligible, and test results should be entered in your Express Entry profile.

Education:

While there’s no formal education requirement for the Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program, applicants can earn additional points for Canadian or foreign education.

Selection Factors:

The Federal Skilled Worker Program uses a point-based system to assess applicants.

Criteria include age, education, work experience, job offers, language skills, and adaptability.

The current pass mark is 67 points.

Proof of Funds:

Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to settle in Canada.

Exemptions apply if you have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer or are legally able to work in Canada.

Admissibility:

You must meet admissibility requirements to be considered for permanent residency.

Choose Your Destination in Canada:

You don’t have to commit to settling in a specific province or territory when filling out your profile.

However, if you are a Provincial Nominee, you must settle in the province or territory that nominated you.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

Express Entry candidates are ranked in the pool using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), a points-based system. Top-ranking candidates in the pool are invited to apply for permanent residence during rounds of invitations.
