A Business Visitor Visa allows individuals to visit Canada for business purposes. This generally includes attending meetings, and conferences, negotiating contracts, or exploring business opportunities. It is typically issued for short-term stays, usually up to 6 months.
What are the requirements to apply for a Business Visitor Visa?
To apply for a Business Visitor Visa, you must:
- Intent to stay less than 6 months
- Proof of income and living outside of Canada
- Having no intention to work in Canada
- Having all requirements documents such as a valid passport, proof a funds, and a return ticket.
If you intend to stay longer than 6 months, you must apply for another work permit.

How to apply for a Business Visitor Visa?
The application process generally involves:
- Online application: Complete the online application form on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.
- Document required: Provide supporting documents, such as your passport, proof of business purpose, and financial information.
- Biometrics: If required, provide your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph).
- Wait for a decision: IRCC will review your application and notify you of the decision.
USMCA Visitor Visa (formerly NAFTA Visitor Visa)
Since 2020, the NAFTA Visitor Visa has been replaced by the United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Under USMCA, there are no “visitor visas” for citizens of the three participating countries (Canada, the United States, and Mexico). Citizens of these countries can generally travel to and from other countries without a visa for short-term stays for business, pleasure, or transit.
