Canada announced the launch of the Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement

As of March 1, 2024, Canada and Finland have announced a new Youth Mobility Agreement that will allow young people aged 18-35 to work and travel in each other’s country. This exciting initiative, announced by Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Marc Miller, is set to foster cultural exchange and provide valuable work experience for young Canadians and Finns.
The Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement, which was signed on May 19, 2023, officially came into effect on March 1, 2024. This exciting initiative, facilitated through the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program and its Finnish counterpart, empowers young people aged 18 to 35 to gain work and travel experiences in each other’s country. By fostering cultural exchange, building international connections, and providing unique opportunities for personal and professional growth, this agreement paves the way for a brighter future for young Canadians and Finns.
Bridging cultures
Celebrating 77 years of diplomatic relations, Canada and Finland have strengthened their bond with the launch of the Youth Mobility Agreement. This initiative, facilitated through the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, offers a unique opportunity for young Canadians and Finns to immerse themselves in each other’s cultures, gain valuable work experience, and create lifelong connections.

- As of March 1, 2024, the Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement is now open for applications.
- Established in 1956, IEC has been fostering international exchange and cultural understanding between Canada and over 35 partner countries and territories.
- The program offers three distinct categories:
1. Working Holiday: Experience the host country’s culture while working part-time.
2 International Co-op (Internship): Gain valuable professional experience through internships in relevant fields.
3. Young Professionals: Explore career opportunities and network with professionals in the host country.
